Default PC Gaurdian Identity Theft Protection

I plan on having hijackthis or malwarebytes logs up shortly. Form a Windows 7 Basic version. Owner of PC asks my why I have not prevented this from happening. As as Basic Home Office PC is there a way to restirct operations of a browser (Internet Explorer) and or Downloading in others and installation of software? Perhaps a guest account? Or do i need a better version of windows?

Older guy I help out with his computer. Sometimes it is better to not help.
Growing up it was the same way with the stereo... if I touched it I was responsible for the mishaps.

If you do decide you would like someone to take a look at the system please follow the procedure in "BEFORE You POST" which includes instructions in post #2 on how to provide preliminary DDS logs, used for analysis.

Then start a new topic in the Malware Removal Forum and a volunteer analyst will advise you when available.

During the closing of a finished topic there tips are given on securing a PC.

    Cheers.
