I hope you can fix this problem as my computer does not function until an un-install of S&D and a reboot.

    Hello,

    Thanks for reporting.
Does any of your services have a default-name like "Service Module"?

    Best regards

    Hi Sandra

I have looked in services but I do not see any "service module" as being listed.
All of them seem to have their proper names listed as far as I can see.

**edit** I clicked "control panel" "admin tools" "services" to check the list..If this is not correct please instruct me as to the proper way. I am not very good with computers.

    Thanks

I've had the svchost.exe error a couple of times too.

Most recently it was when I was trying to stop the On-Access Scanning service while using my user account. After clearing the error message my PC froze and I had to use the reset button to restart it. This is on a Windows XP SP3 PC.

I just logged on using my administrator account and there was a Windows Error Reporting (WER) message for the svchost.exe error. After sending the report, WER gave me a link to a page that might help solve the problem. This page suggests that Windows Update had stopped working. Is Spybot interferring with Windows Update?
