Default How to tell Spybot S&D to run once on reboot with being able to launch Spybot S&D

Is there any way to cause Spybot S&D to run once on reboot without actually launching Spybot S&D?

Could you please explain further?I want to be sure to give directions to get Spybot to run once on reboot the way that you want it to.
From reading your post,I'd guess you might have been trying to get Spybot to run once at reboot, but instead of scanning or fixing,it's just been opening the program,is that correct?

You can get Spybot to run once at System Startup. To do so:
Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced mode > Settings > Settings > look for "System start" (located half way down the page).
Check the option: "Run program once at next system startup".

Along with that, there are also some other options you can select, including
Run check on program start, which should get Spybot to run a scan.
And also,Fix all problems on program start.
This attachment shows some of the options to look for:

The malware I am dealing with will not allow Spybot to launch. I have tried renaming SpybotSD.exe with no success. I am unable to get into safe mode. I just wondered if there is a way, without actually launching Spybot, to edit a config file, or the registry, or something else, to cause Spybot to run once on reboot, before anything else loads.

I am running Windows XP service pack 3.

Besides running Spybot in safe mode or renaming Spybot.exe, you could also try to launch Spybot by using it's .scr files. It's listed as Step 1 here:

Could you please try that first, and let me know how it goes? Thanks.

Tried that too, no luck. It sounds like there's not a way to do what I'm asking. That's ok, I just wanted to know if it was possible.

Are you familiar with editing the registry?
Is so,there's a post here showing how to make a runonce registry entry to get Spybot to run at startup:

There are different methods shown here to backup the registry before making any changes:

    You're welcome.
If you add the registry runonce entry, and Spybot still won't run, please post back.
Also,if Spybot does run but you continue to have problems with the malware afterwards and need help removing it,you could post back here, and I'll give you the links to malware removal.
