Description:
Somoto.BetterInstaller is a malware which pretends to install some useful software. However the main tool is useless, for instance the Ultimate Facebook Hacker. Somoto.BetterIntaller's main purpose is to deliver other malware and adware like PricePeep or the DealBulldog Toolbar. Since the function of Ultimate Facebook Hacker is irrelevant to Somoto.BetterIntaller it does not check system requirement prior to installation, does not offer uninstallation and downloads other adware installer even if they are excluded from installation.
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "SDP" and pointing to "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\FilesFrog Update Checker\update_checker.exe /auto ".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "bi_uninstaller".
  • Products that have a key or property named "FilesFrog Update Checker".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\FilesFrog Update Checker\uninstall.exe".
  • The file at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\FilesFrog Update Checker\update_checker.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROFILE>\Local Settings\Application Data\Bundled software uninstaller\biclient.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\FilesFrog Update Checker\Check for Updates.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\FilesFrog Update Checker\Uninstall.lnk".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Somoto.BetterInstaller uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\FilesFrog Update Checker".
  • The directory at "<$PROFILE>\Local Settings\Application Data\Bundled software uninstaller".
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\FilesFrog Update Checker".

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "sdp", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "BI" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
  • Delete the registry key "Somoto" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
If Somoto.BetterInstaller uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
