Default Removal of SafeFinder/LPT SmartBar unsuccessful

    Please advise on the following:

I've run SpyBot and it tells me it has removed all files the scan found.
However, SafeFinder and LPT SmartBar are still listed in the Windows Control Panel. And when I look at the SpyBot log, it says (File, nothing done) for all items associated with these two programs.

When I try to uninstall SafeFinder and LPT SmartBar in the Windows Control Panel, the usual Windows prompt pops up, asking me if I will let the program modify my system.
Clearly I don't want to answer OK to that - or can I???

Is there anything else I can/should do?

    Many thanks.

Don't know if this is relevant: my system is Windows 8.

    Hello ukj2007,

Did you elevate permissions in Spybot?

How can I get administrator rights under Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8?

Which version of Spybot do you have installed please: http://www.safer-networking.org/

    Best regards.

Hi and thanks for replying so promptly!

I have version 2.4.40.0 of Spybot installed.

I've now started it as an administrator and will run another scan. I'll then report back here...

    Best & thanks again,

    Ulla
