Description:
AdExpertBrowser claims to analyze the online advertising market and to create statistical reports. Once installed it shows a panel window with 'Play', 'Stop' and 'Export' buttons. Selecting the 'Export' button creates an 'aebstat.txt' document on the desktop. AdExpertBrowser needs the .Net environment to run. The setup file uses an obfuscated NullSoft Installer package to avoid detection.
Supposed Functionality:
"... it consumes a specific amount of CPU time and Internet traffic. The Application is FREE of charge and sponsored by advertisements and commercial offers that may be displayed to you by Vendors (as detailed below)."
"Age Notification; By downloading and using the Application you certify you are over the age of 18 "

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Ads Expert Browser Backup" and pointing to "<$APPDATA>\AEB\CheckWork.exe".
  • Entries named "Ads Expert Browser" and pointing to "<$APPDATA>\AEB\Updater_aeb.exe".
  • Entries named "NTAds Expert Browser" and pointing to "<$APPDATA>\AEB\ntaeb_restart.exe".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If AdExpertBrowser uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\AEB\plugins".
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\AEB".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If AdExpertBrowser uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "Ads Expert Browser" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
  • Delete the registry value "(Default)" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ads Expert Browser\".
If AdExpertBrowser uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
