    Default Firewall self disabling

I have Windows 8.1 and the paid version of Spybot S&D 2 with antivirus.
On several random occasions my Windows Action Center will display a red x (as standard when there is an issue).

    When opened it says
    Security
    Spyware and unwanted software proection
    (Important)
    {Box that says View antispyware options}
Windows Defender and Spybot - Search and Destroy are both turned off.

Turn off messages about spyware and unwanted software protection

(The red bar runs along the side of each warning message)

    Virus protection (important)

This issue has developed sometime in the past few months after the installation of another program called SpeedBoost which also has developed problems (Windows tells me something to the effect that programs have had unhandled exception errors and must be shut down:

At the same time my Spybot S&D icon shows in the task bar and says it is being updated, lists the last scan date, Live protection: on, AS+AV: active, Internet: protected.

Any advice useful advice would be appreciated

    Hello Xerious,

The issue appears to lie with the Windows Action Center blocking the ability of security programs to correctly report their status. Although the third party products appear to be working normally the Windows Security Center shows conflicting information.

You can report the issue to Spybot support by opening a ticket: https://www.safer-networking.org/sup...ket/technical/

Please provide a link to this topic.

Multiple security programs have reported the Windows Action Center error per Google results and on more than one operating system.

You could try posting at the Microsoft Answers Forums. Win8.1

    Best regards.
