    Question omniture

I'm v sorry if you have had this type of query before and the answer is obvious but I'm a dunce at computers ( and I have tried to look in the FAQs for the answer ).
I do love Spybot; it makes me feel as safe as possible and I've been using it for a couple of years.
Recently I've been getting 'Omniture' coming up as a threat when I run Search and Destroy. I get the threat fixed but next time I run the program there are more entries. Why doesn't the 'Immunize' stop them? ( It is all updated regularly ).
I did see the stuff about itunes but I don't use this.
    Many thanks, bwcat

In Spybot's product database Omniture is listed as a cookie which indicates that it is being detected because it is a tracking cookie (third party cookie), capable of tracking internet usage across multiple Web sites. Omniture.com is added to the system registry with the following registry entry to during immunization:
    Code:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\Omniture.com]
    @=dword:00000005
This should block the storing of cookies from Omniture.com on your system while using Windows Internet Explorer.

Are the cookies being detected during the Spybot scan from Internet Explorer or an alternate browser? Also are you running the Spybot scan/fix while your browser is inactive?

It may be helpful if you published the actual detection that you are getting and attempting to fix. To do that:
    • Run another scan/fix.
    • When the scan/fix completes, right click on the results list, select "Copy results to clipboard".
    • Then paste those results (Ctrl+V) to a new post in this thread.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

Thanks so much for your reply and advice. I was running the scan, fix and immunize off line and with the browser closed ( after doing all the updates ) so maybe that is why the omniture cookie comes back. I've just run it again with the browser open and on line.
I use BT Yahoo browser which seems to use Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11.

Below are the pasted results from the latest scan.

I will try it again in a few days and see what happens.
Thanks again, it's great to be able to get help with these - for me- worrying little problems. bwcat

The only thing that I can suggest is that you go into Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Privacy tab > Web sites - Edit (or Settings – Sites in IE 7) > on the "Per Site Privacy Actions" screen under "Managed Web sites" > make sure that there is an entry for "Omniture.com" that indicates "Always Block".

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

    Hello again,
Many thanks for your advice on this. I have omniture.com 'always blocked' in my browser privacy/sites section so I'm at a loss to understand what is happening. Since I checked it was blocked it on the browser I've run search & destroy 3 times since my last post and each time I get omniture coming up. I fix it each time.
Here is the last log, much the same as before.
Omniture must be extra sneaky or my machine is misbehaving.
I am going to try and see if I can find out which website it is coming from - I use ebay a lot and I know omniture does their statistics. However it will take me a while to come to any conclusions on this as I have to fit it in round my current overload of pre Christmas work but I will get back to you if I can get any clues.
    Thanks, again, bwcat
