Try to update again or upgrade to Spybot-S&D 1.4.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

Angry "Listenindex uberschreitet das Maximum (17)"

I'm having the same problem. It's only happened since I downloaded five or six updates last Friday.

Thank you MD USA. I'll re-install later as you suggest.
In case it's of use to the Spybot team, here's some more info:
    ====================================================
When I try to open the program I get this screen message:

    "Listenindex uberschreitet das Maximum (17)"

Clicking OK takes me to a screen I've never seen before. There's like a network icon below which it says
"This list displays additional information about the installed network drivers and protocols and is intended as additional information for professional and for system reports only."
    The list is empty.

Clicking Help takes me straight to the dictionary definition of LSP, Layered Service Provider.

Default Listenindex uberschreitet das Maximum (17)

Exactly the same problem as DaveU, even down to updating last Friday! Tried further update - same result. Upgraded to Spybot 1.4 - problem solved (or, at least, it's gone away!). Thanks, md usa.

Default Listenindex uberschreitet das Maximum (17)

I am also having this problem, since updating last Friday 12/08/06.

The error message is in German, it means:
"List index exceeds the maximum (17)"

Spybot doesn't seem to run properly, it ends after 1 - 5 seconds saying "no problems found". It usually takes at least 10 - 15 minutes to run.

How do I upgrade to Spybot 1.4?

    knight23, et al.:

If you are running Windows 95 do not attempt to upgrading to Spybot 1.4.

To upgrading to Spybot 1.4. There are four (4) download sites for Spybot-S&D 1.4 here:
    Uninstall Spybot-S&D 1.3:Install Spybot-S&D 1.4:
    • Execute spybotsd14.exe download above.
    • Do not change the default installation path of:
      • C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
    • Make sure that you update Sptbot-S&D 1.4 before running a scan.

    ********************

Note: If you upgrade and use TeaTimer be aware of the following:

There is currently a bug in TeaTimer 1.4. Portions of TeaTimer's popup dialog overlay the "Allow change" and "Deny change" buttons. On my system the very top edges of the "Allow change" button (on the left) and "Deny change" button (on the right) are showing and I am still able to select the options. I also can check "Remember this decision" since it is visible. If no portion of the "Allow change" and "Deny change" buttons are showing, you can answer TeaTimer's popup dialog (English language version) by pressing "A" on your keyboard for "Allow change" or "D" for "Deny change". Note: If you close the dialog without answering "Allow change" or "Deny change" the registry change is denied.

If you can't deal with the problem that way until it is fixed, you can:
    1. Apply one of the workarounds found in the following pinned (Sticky) thread that fixes the pop-up dialog so the buttons are visible:

There are three (3) fixes published in that thread. They are:

      1. The ResHacker fix published by ElPiedra here:
      2. The murdo patch published here:

Also republished by RuggeR29 (which I have never tried) here:
      3. The patch originally by SyreneD that I published here:

Also republished by SyreneD himself here:

    2. Disable TeaTimer as follows:
      • Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident.
      • Uncheck the following:
        • Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

    3. There is also a beta test version of TeaTimer available that overcomes this problem.

Notes about the patches (b. and c. above):

    Thanks, MD USA.

I have just finished upgrading to Spybot 1.4, and it now runs normally again (with No Problems Found)!

I am running Windows 2000 Pro, not Windows 95. Didn't have any trouble upgrading, someone on another forum told me to uninstall Spybot 1.3 first, and gave me the link to the sites to find Spybot 1.4. Pretty much the same as your instructions.

    Thanks again.

For people running Spybot-S&D 1.3 on Windows 95 who can not upgrade to Spybot-S&D 1.4, I suggest that you try manually updating the detection rules as follows:
    • Go to the following WEB page:
    • Download and execute the following item:
      • Detection updates 2006-12-08 - product description
        md5: 7F2D8F54888A3840EC53E2B2A2F1BF67

This updates the detection rules. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.
      • Download

It appears that those updates were modified since the original release of the updates on 2006-12-08 and should fix the problems according to this post by PepiMK in "Listenindex uberschreitet das Maximum (17)":
