    Default TrojanC.sbi

I received this msg. after S&D ran. I know I saw this on the forum but did not see a response.
There were problems in the include file C:\Program Files\Spybot-Search_Destroy\Includes\TrojanC.sbi
See 'Include errors. log' for details
My Log file also shows this:

    D:\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi | Zlob.DNSChanger.rtk | <$FILE_EXE>
    D:\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi | Win32.Agent.frl | <$FILE_SYSTEM>
    D:\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi | Win32.Agent.frl | <$FILE_EXE>
    D:\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi | Zlob.DNSChanger | <$FILE_EXE>
    D:\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi | Zlob.DNSChanger | <$FILE_EXE>
    D:\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi | Zlob.DNSChanger.rtk | <$FILE_EXE>

If anyone can help me on this that would be great.
    Thanks

    Hello,

Please upgrade to the new Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2.
    http://www.spybotupdates.com/files/spybotsd152.exe

Or download the update called TCP/IP Settings plugin using the integrated update function, or, if you do not use the integrated update, you can download a manual installer from our download page:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download

If even after updating, the file is not there, you can try the following:

    1. Close Spybot-S&D
    2. Unzip (extract) the plugtcpip.zip file that is in your Spybot-S&D\Updates folder to the main Spybot-S&D folder.
    3. Restart Spybot-S&D

For more information, please do also have a look into thie thread:

My wife has the same problem of that persistent error message on her PC (using version 1.4) and I googled my way to this thread when researching it this morning.

For the time being I thought I'd try the fix while staying with 1.4. I couldn't see any way to download the TCP/IP file "using the integrated update function" (out of curiosity, how do you do that please?), so I downloaded the EXE file manually. But can you confirm that it should be placed in "the main Spybot-S&D folder", rather than the Plugins folder C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Plugins ?

Finally, I've seen several posts from users about 1.5 being very slow. Is that true, and if so how slow, and is anything planned to speed it up please?

Well, with it in the main folder, the error message has just reappeared. I'll let S&D finish then try moving that TCP/ICP exe file to the Plugins subfolder and scan again.

    terrypin:
    et al.:

To the best of my knowledge the current errors with the Trojans.sbi and TrojansC.sbi files can not be fixed with the TCP/IP Plugin as mavchen indicated.

The current errors with the Trojans.sbi and TrojansC.sbi files that started with the 2008-04-09 updates are caused by new detection rules that are incompatible with versions of Spybot prior to 1.5.2. These new detection rules use the new Anti-Rootkit plugins #1, #2 and #3 that only have been offered as updates to Spybot 1.5.2. If you upgrade to Spybot 1.5.2 you will not only eliminate the error messages but in also will be performing rootkit searches while doing a Spybot "Check for problems".

If there is a reason that you cannot upgrade to Spybot 1.5.2, you can try the Anti-Rootkit plugins #1, #2 and #3 with Spybot 1.4, but they are not officially supported. From this post in the following thread:

The downloads for the Anti-Rootkit plugins are on the following Web page:

    This item:
    • Anti rootkit plugins 1.0 - product description
      md5: EE7278BC89D4557CFD7127EACC37EE70

Supported only for version 1.5.2 or above!
This adds improved capabilities to find rootkits. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.

Please note: Supported only for version 1.5.2 or above!

[This is replying to my own post, have not yet studied suggestions from md usa spybot fan.]

OK, did that, but error remains.

Any other suggestions, apart from upgrading to 1.5 please?

    md usa spybot fan,

Thanks, appreciate your detailed reply. Looks like all the above work with TCP/IP was pointless then!

Oddly, on my own old XP SP1 PC I've never had this error message with version 1.4. Today, on my new XP Pro SP2 PC I've installed 1.5 and ran my first scan without incident.

My wife's PC remains to be sorted. My only hesitation in updating hers to 1.5 too has been because
    1) I saw posts here about it being slow
    2) She just hates me meddling with her PC when she's not around

    I'll persuade her later...

BTW, different topic while I'm here: I haven't been in the habit of using 'Immunize' before a scan. Should I do so?

You should immunize after updates so that the latest updates to the immunization process are used.
