    Default Looking for some advice

I'm NOT trying to step on any toes here, just looking for some help- I have SB S&D 1.6.2.46 installed, been running SB S&D products for many years, little or no problems, I have an older version of AD-Aware also installed to run in conjunction with SpyBot, yes I always reboot between scans, anyways I'm looking to replace the old ver. of AD-Aware with either a newer ver. OR something different, don't know if I want to run something in "real time" or not, but I definitely want something that is compatible with SpyBot, I do NOT have "tea timer" running - my main browser is FireFox, I only use IE as a backup, any suggestions would be appreciated -

    Thanks

    Hello,

    1)
SpywareBlaster 4.1 is a very good passive protection tool against Malware. It works fine with Spybot. For more information, you can watch this site:
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

    2)
Another tool from javacool, called SpywareGuard, has a realtime protection:
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloads.html

    3)
SuperAntiSpyware Free is, in my opinion, a good Anti-Malware Scanner. This tool don't have a realtime protection too. For more information:
    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    4)
Another tool beside Spybot would be A-Squared Free. For more information:
    http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

    and 5)
Another Anti-Malware tool that works with Spybot is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. For more information:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    Choose the one you like.

    Best regards,
    -Matt-

Immunization is passive protection and SDHelper applies to Microsoft Internet Explorer only.

    -Matt- gave some good links.

drragostea, SpywareBlaster from Java Cool looks good as "non-realtime" protection especially now that it works with FireFox 3 and a "real-time" utility I found that looks promising is Comodo BOClean - both of these along with SB S&D, may be what I'm looking for - I don't want to slow my system down with a "real time" utility, what do you think about these 2 -

    Thanks for the help

Comodo BoClean is actually pretty powerful in preventing malware and disabling them. I haven't seem it in action lately on my PC. And for a company that gives out a full security suite for free is pretty generous. Bravo.

SpywareBlaster has a near identical ability to Spybot's Immunization to passively block bad sites for you. This is a great way to avoid stepping into infected sites. Their Immunization shouldn't slow you down.

In the end, I have to say they are both good. SpywareBlaster's protection is a one-time only activation (not really, but you have to update it too once in a while) and it doesn't run in the background.
