Default Program keeps trying to install itself

I've done everything I can think of to get rid of this program that my son downloaded...it keeps trying to install itself, it's no longer in the add/remove programs and when I search for it nothing comes up yet it keeps coming with a pop up that says "Please wait while Windows configures Roxio Creator 2009". I'm not even sure what this program is but it WON'T STOP!! :(:( Please help! If this isn't a virus (since it's not showing up in AVG) what is it???

    Hello Ayre13,

    FYI
"BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

Roxio Creator 2009 is digital media software.

Looks like the program did not perform a clean uninstall, did he download the software from Roxio's official site?

    Best regards.

No, I'm not sure how he got it...I've banned him from the computer because he keeps doing this to me! lol

I've figured out that if I use my task manager I can get it to stop trying to install itself but if I restart it just starts all over again...I don't know what to do. And I'm pretty familiar with my own computer and I've never had an issue like this before (except with Norton Security Scan but I was able to find a way to get rid of that)...I'm at a loss to say the least.

Perhaps you could ask him, did he purchase the program from the official site or obtain it through other methods?

If purchased you could ask for support at the Roxio Support Forums.

I suggest you start a topic in our Malware Removal Forum after reading this FAQ: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

If you do that please provide a link back to this thread.
