Spybot does not open

Forgive me if this has been addressed. I have searched the forums and found 2 topics (here and here) I thought would help me but they did not, so here I am making a new thread.

When I go to launch Spybot, it does not open in a window. However, when I check Windows task manager "SpybotSD.exe" is in the task list. I have tried uninstalling completely (even used the small fix method), and then reinstalled. Same problem occurs after. This is on a clean install of Windows XP Pro Sp2. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit: This is with the latest version of Spybot.
