What is hyjacking IE7?

Ok, I am a FireFox user but I still need IE occasionally.
So I updated to IE7.
Every time I try to use it (and sometimes when I don't - just working with FF) some form of Adware takes it over and kills the "Live" tab and replaces it with "Party Poker", "888 Casino" and the like.
I have run S&D several times and it always comes up blank.
But the malware is still there.
Any suggestions or similar occurrences?

Change of direction

I did the update to 1.4, and it seems to have found and cleared a stack of nasties missed by 1.3.
However, now when I boot up S&D starts to cycle hundreds of query dialogs, which even when set to be quiet and background, flash up an endless stream of notification boxes, nearly all of which appear to be exactly the same.
The screen shots are two hours apart and show no sign of ever stopping.
Short of killing S&D, nothing seems to be able stop this.
I could stop Immunise and/or take off the Permanent IE blocker, but surely this is defeating the objective?
Any advice please?

I seem to have a similar Adware.
Keep mainly getting AdultfrindFinder and some casino websites poping up.
IE7 now always pops up a 'new TAB' in a new window rather than a tab
therefore tabs don't work
I have upgraded to IE7 recently.
XP checks for updates every day.
I have the latest version of Spybot (have also tried Adware and Norton)
The only .exe recently downloded that might be considered doggy is 'netpumper-1.50-setup-NP_0306.exe' which i scanned with Norton before running.

Hey!!
You know, I just cleaned up a friends system, and, man, it is getting to be real work. And I had to use a multitude of tools. I can see that it is going to be a challenge to just design the proper software that is easy to use, and yet still effective against the dark side hackers...You folks are the best!!

Check out the Secunia website for their argument against Microsoft not cleaning up it's act and fixing both IE6 and IE7. And my experience shows that one cannot use IE7 with any operating system other than Vista. It simply is a stopgap with any XPSP2 system.
