• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

desktop icons and nonsense homepage address change

HI,

I am running NS 7.2.

Everytime I turn my computer on I get like 6 or 7 different desktop icons installed for casino and poker and ring tones and stuff like that. Also my home page changes to some total nonsense.

I downloaded and ran Spybot S&D and get a bunch of results which then I clear in the hope that they are gone and won't return.

The problem is everytime I restart my machine these icons re-appear, if not all of them, at least 2 or 3 of them (the same kind).

Is this normal?

This would mean I'd have to run a spyware S&D on every start up...

I am a newbie to spyware.

Is there a mising step in my S&D process that I am not doing to prevent these icons from returning?

Thanks.

Tashi,

I got my reports but they are too big to be attached. My panda scan is :179 KB
And my Spybot is 124 KB

Hope I am doing this right.

I was also trying to copy/paste them into the thread page but they exceed the allowed character count.(311645 characters)

Is this normal?

Should I submit them via two different posts?

Thanks!

Hi there.
No need to attach the Panda scan or the Spybot-S&D log unless requested by your helper.
For now please start a topic in the malware forum and copy/paste the HJT log into it.
You should be ok posting the hjt log alone, if not just use two posts into the same topic.

Start the topic here:

Thanks. :)
