    Default Privacy Danger problem

    Ok I'm not savvy when it comes to computers so someone please help. I have seen others with similar problems but was not sure if following the instructions given to them would come out with the same results for me. Please help

    Hi TheBetterGuy

    Click here to download HJTInstall.exe
    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    We live in a different time zone and I have to sleep as well

    I will always reply as soon as possible.

    Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

    Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
    (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

    Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
      (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
    • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

    Ok Shaba here's what happened. I ran safe mode and started the SDFix. Everything was going fine and when it got to 50%, the program just disappeared and I'm not sure if running it is supposed to end the explorer.exe process.

    Thanks for the info.

    Go to C:\SDFix folder.

    Find VirusAlert_Repair.inf, right-click it and choose install.

    After that try again, please

    Well it seems to be making progress as I can now see C: again... but when I try to install the XP_VirusAlert_Repair I get a Privacy danger popup and it doesn't install
