Description:
NousTech.SysCleaner claims to be a legit privacy software. It gets promoted or downloaded by trojan horses like Virtumonde. Its scan finds intentional false positives and does not allow the user to see the details of the scan unless NousTech.SysCleaner is purchased, removal of the findings also requires purchase. The company name is hidden by domains by proxy and not stated anywhere in the software nor on its website. NousTech.UDefender, NousTech.UCleaner and NousTech.SysCleaner are almost identical.
Removal Instructions:

Quicklaunch area:

Please remove the following items from your start quick launch area text to the "Start" button in the taskbar at the bottom.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Quicklaunch symbols named "Start SysCleaner.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\SysCleaner.exe".

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "SysCleaner" and pointing to "?<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\SysCleaner.exe*".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "SysCleaner".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\com\scsdelete.dll".
  • The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\SysCleaner\Register SysCleaner.lnk".
  • The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\SysCleaner\Start SysCleaner.lnk".
  • The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\SysCleaner\Uninstall SysCleaner.lnk".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\SysCleaner\settings.dat".
  • The file at "<$DESKTOP>\SysCleaner.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\program.info".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\SysCleaner.db".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\SysCleaner.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\SysCleaner.pkg".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner\Uninstall.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If NousTech.SysCleaner uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\SysCleaner".
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\SysCleaner".
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\SysCleaner\logs".
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SysCleaner".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If NousTech.SysCleaner uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{7D3DEBB4-F225-40EB-81BA-B5B6FE88F03B}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "SCSDelete" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\".
  • Delete the registry key "SCSDelete" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\".
  • Delete the registry key "SysCleaner" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
  • Delete the registry value "{7D3DEBB4-F225-40EB-81BA-B5B6FE88F03B}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\".
  • Delete the registry key "SysCleaner" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
If NousTech.SysCleaner uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
