Description:
This trojan horse pretends to be various desired files, it also installs a fake system start pretending to be Norton Antivirus. NetSky.Q connects to the internet in background, it appears to distribute itself via email and peer to peer networks.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Norton Antivirus AV" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\FVProtect.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\base64.tmp".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\FVProtect.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\userconfig9x.dll".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\zip1.tmp".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\zip2.tmp".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\zip3.tmp".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\zipped.tmp".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If NetSky.Q uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.
