The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "NetSky.R" manually.

Description:
The worm infects all exe files on the computer, it also hooks up to the Explorer and adds a system start entry. It runs in background and distributes itself via email. We recommend to run a free online virus scanner to get all files repaired.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "EasyAV" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\EasyAV.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\EasyAV.exe".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\vcmgcd32.dl_".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\vcmgcd32.dll".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\win18923.dll".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\win64568.dll".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wmdconf32.dll".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\uinmzertinmds.opm".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If NetSky.R uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winesymat.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winqaamy.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winsovh.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winesymat.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winqaamy.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winsovh.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winesymat.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winqaamy.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
  • Delete the registry value "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\winsovh.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
If NetSky.R uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
