The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "OSI.inc.Webbot" manually.

Description:
The link to cancel the order in the email is linked to an executable file. Also if activeX is allowed the Internet Explorer will directly connect to the internet in background . Once the exe is executed, additional instances of the IE are used in background to connect to various malicious websites, download additional executeables and run these. A service is being installed that shuts down security software and tools and prevents them from being started.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Microsoft Task Scheduler" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\dlha\*.com".
  • Entries named "Microsoft Windows Visual V2.0" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\*.exe".

Important: There are more autorun entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$DESKTOP>\Melt.bat".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\msinfo32.dat".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\stclient.ini".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If OSI.inc.Webbot uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$SYSDIR>\dlha".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If OSI.inc.Webbot uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry value "Microsoft Windows Visual V2.0" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\".
  • Delete the registry key "Microsoft Windows Visual V2.0" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\".
If OSI.inc.Webbot uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

There are more registry entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.
