Description:
Win32.Banker.xe copies an executable file to
the system directory. The file is hidden from all users. The trojan changes the security settings of the operating system. It monitors password information in multiple text files. Win32.Banker.xe connects in the background to two fixed IP addresses.
Removal Instructions:

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\twex.exe".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\twain32\user.ds".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\twain32\user.ds".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\twain32\local.ds".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\twex.exe".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\twex.exe".
  • A file with an unknown location named "twex.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Win32.Banker.xe uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\twain32".
  • The directory at "<$SYSDIR>\twain32".

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Remove "<regexpr>,<$SYSDIR>\\(twex\.exe)" from registry value "Userinit" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\".
  • Delete the registry key "{37F48AB5-EFF2-4A61-CEAB-DBA8AEB5CC3F}" at "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry value "{37F48AB5-EFF2-4A61-CEAB-DBA8AEB5CC3F}" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry value "{37F48AB5-EFF2-4A61-CEAB-DBA8AEB5CC3F}" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry value "{37F48AB5-EFF2-4A61-CEAB-DBA8AEB5CC3F}" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry key "{43BF8CD1-C5D5-2230-7BB2-98F22C2B7DC6}" at "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry value "{43BF8CD1-C5D5-2230-7BB2-98F22C2B7DC6}" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry value "{43BF8CD1-C5D5-2230-7BB2-98F22C2B7DC6}" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
  • Delete the registry value "{43BF8CD1-C5D5-2230-7BB2-98F22C2B7DC6}" at "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\".
If Win32.Banker.xe uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
