- trojan
- rootkit
Win32.TDSS.ntf uses general heuristics to scan for members of the TDSS trojan family. A TDSS installer claims to be an audio or video player. Once run it changes the name server settings for the purpose of redirecting Internet requests. It installs a rootkit masked as a driver within the system directory which affects antivirus and security software. Variants install an autorun.inf in every root directory. Also it connects to the Internet and copies several malicious files to the temp directories. It is recommended to run a full system scan in safe mode in order to get rid of this trojan.
