Hello. I have done a few scans with various software. Spybot reported several instances of Virtumonde. The first time seemed fairly promising in that my system more or less seemed normal, although I wasn't fully convinced, so I ran a few scans with Malwarebytes along with SpyDoctor, neither of which reported it, so I figured I was okay.
Two days later, it happened again. I have scanned with Spybot and surely enough it reported this problem. It removed them, I rebooted, they came back and have kept doing so after reboots. This new one also removed Malwarebytes on the spot. I am positive that this came from some Flash ads. I have uninstalled Acrobat Reader (I had version 7 something) as well as the FlashPlayer as per suggestions in the forums.. Java is up to date, however. I also have gotten as many Windows Updates as I can. I know I don't have IE8, but that's only because I do NOT use IE for browsing. The only thing I ever use it for is getting Windows Updates. I was looking at other threads and decided to try a few apps. I got myself HijackThis. Here's the log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 11:15:58 AM, on 2/9/2010 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgchsvx.exe C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgrsx.exe C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgcsrvx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgwdsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam\MSCamS32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\PnkBstrA.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\RTHDCPL.EXE C:\Program Files\Unlocker\UnlockerAssistant.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\Razer\DeathAdder\razerhid.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG9\avgtray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\SpeedFan\speedfan.exe C:\Program Files\Razer\DeathAdder\razerofa.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe D:\Downloads\HijackThis.exe R1 - Hi,
You should have Internet Explorer up-to-date even if you used it only for fetching updates. IE components are used by other programs too. Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here. Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
