Default Home page Hijacked to syssecuritysite.net

I am trying to help by brother fix his computer as it has been hijacked
among other problems. He is not very knowledgable with these things,
and I am not much better.

    Spybot S & D showed: ZLOB Downloader
    Spyware quake
    Vcodec.emedia
    vcodec

I Ran Smithfraud, Bit Defender, Spybot SD, Highjack this and
    created logs for all.

I would certainly appreciate any help with these. Although Bit defender
and Spybot says that it has fixed the problems, the home page is still
    hijacked.

I am posting the logs here. I have never done this before, so I hope they
are the way you need them.

It appears that the spybot log is so large that it would take many seperate
posts to get it all up here. Perhaps someone could help cut some items
out to shorten it to two or three posts.

    Thank you for any help.

Hello and welcome to the forum, since you did the search for Smitfraud, I will have to assume you are using these instructions:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015 I will include the tutorial for SmitfraudFix for your convience:
    http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

Before we move on, we must get HJT in a folder. Return to here: C:\HijackThis folder second try.exe and point the mouse at a blank spot and right click, then make a NEW FOLDER. Call it HJT. Move the HijackThis.exe into that new folder. Use these instructions if you need them:
    http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial94.html

You have successfully identified the infection, now follow the balance of the instructions in the fix here:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015
When it comes to the SmitfraudFix portion, you will execute #2 and when you do #3 in the instructions. This information will apply:
    F. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Post the three logs in this same topic:
    c:\rapport.txt
    Ewido log
    The HJT log

I will need no other information posted unless I request it. I will be notified when you post and check to see if there is more to do as soon as possible after that.

    Thanks...pskelley

    Default Thank you

Thank you for your kind assistance. I will do as you have instructed.
It will probably take a day or so before I can sort through everything
and post the reports you are asking for. Again, thank you for your help.

Default Computer appears to be OK

    Thank you very much.

The viruses all appear to be gone and the home page has been restored.

I was unable to run the Smitfraud in safe mode as it did not show up. I
ran all other items as directed in safe mode, and then rebooted computer
and ran the smitfraud tool in normal mode. Hopefully no problems come
    about.

Again, thank you very much and we will be making a donation to
    Spybot S&D.

    Michael And Jim

Thanks for returning the information, we still have a little more to do. SmitfraudFix does a better job in safe mode, but it appears it removed most of the infection, let's do this.

    1) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ <<< Java needs an update, it is very imporant you keep it up to date, see this:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.p...80&postcount=2

    2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    3) TeaTimer may block the changes we must make, use these instructions to turn it off until you are done:
    http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

    4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {f7d40011-29bb-43eb-9c97-875ce89e9e36} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp100.tmp (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a last HJT log, let me hear everything is running well, and I'll have some important information for you and get you on your way.

    Thanks...Phil

    Default continue fix

I have looked at the additional fixes that you have instructed us to
do. It will probably be the weekend before we can get to it due to
    some serious time constraints.

Again, your help is very much appreciated.

    Michael and Jim.

    Default completed tasks

No sooner did I post the last post then it turns out I had the time
to go ahead and do the requested steps.

Uninstalled old Java and downloaded and tested new Java.
Ran HJT and checked and fixed items you instructed.
    Ran ATF Cleaner.
Ran new HJT and have log attached.

Again, we are so grateful for your help as we could not have done
    this on our own.

    Michael and Jim.

BTW. We noticed you live in Clearwater; we are just down the street
    in Tampa.

Hi Michael and Jim, makes us neighbors I moved around a bit: Ft. Lauderdale, Dania, Hallendale, Panama City, Lakeland and finally settled down here 15 or so years ago. While I am not crazy about the way the place is run, I am retired and to lazy to do anything about it. I do love the area.

Your HJT log looks great, good job with the complex instructions If all is back to normal, you are good to go.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Safe surfing...tashi will close you in a day or so.

    Thanks...pskelley
