    Question newdotnet.dll cannot be deleted

About a week ago I picked up newdotnet.dll and some other apparently related files when browsing for some desktop icons to use. Spybot found these spys during a search and was able to destroy all but that newdotnet.dll file, which resides in my Program Files folder. I cannot go directly to the file and delete it either, as I am told that another program or person is using it. How do I get rid of this? My internet has been acting strangely lately (getting slow, etc)and I suspect this may be my problem.

    Hello.

    We should see a log.
    • Close all browsers
    • Open SpyBot, check for problems
    • Then on the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced mode, on the left lower down select tools, and view report, ensure all the options are selected near the bottom except
    • Uncheck[ ] do not report disabled or known legitimate Items.
    • Uncheck[ ] Include a list of services in report.
    • Uncheck[ ] Include uninstall list in report.
    • Now select (near the top) view report.
    • Press export in the save in box choose a place such as your my documents folder, then in your next post near the bottom select the "browse" button; navigate to and attach or post that report.

    Cheers.

    Hello,

Which version of Spybot-S&D are you using? If you are not using our latest version 1.4 please uninstall your current version and download and install the new version. Uninstall instructions: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/27.html

    download locations for 1.4: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

Please do also download the latest detection rules using the integrated updater. Now, new.net should be fixed properly.

If it should keep coming back please apply the following manual fix: Launch Notepad (not wordpad), and copy and paste the lines below into a new text file. Save it as file name: "fixme.reg" (not including the quotes). Save as file type: All files (*.*) and save it on your Desktop.

    REGEDIT4
    [-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\new.net]
    [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\new.net]

Now double-click on the fixme.reg file you saved and click on the Yes button when it asks if you would like to merge the information. Once you get a successful message delete fixme.reg.

    Best regards
    Sandra

Hi Larry. For me, I run the command prompt and end explorer.exe:

Please tell if it works for you too.
