View Full Version : ms security center overridden

Each Spybot scan turns up 8 items in MS Security Center as being overridden: Firewall Disabled, Antivirus Override, notifyers, etc.

It also lists Win32.NLC in each scan. While I am scannng, E-trust frequently finds a variety of Win32 trojans (silly, et. al), but only while Spybot is scanning.

Here is my Hijackthis log.

hi bsieged,

ok first please delete that copy of hjt, its not good to run it out of a temp dir.
like this:

Downloads:
Please make sure you have the latest version. HJT 1.99.1
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/hijackthis.zip
If you are unfamiliar with zip programs get HijackThis.exe here:
http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe
First put hijackthis into a permanent folder.
Do this first - go to C: and create a new permanent folder.
Example C:\AntiSpyWare or C:\hijackthis
This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong.
Then put (or download - choose "save" not "run") the hijackthis.exe file in this folder.
If you downloaded a zipped HJT file unzip it to the permanent folder so you have C:\hijackthis\hijackthis.exe.
Example of the wrong way:
C:\DOCUME~1\Name\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe
Running hjt from the wrong folder may delay assistance as your helper will have to ask for a new log.

If in doubt use this link to get HijackThis.
Save it to your desktop and then double-click to run it.
It will install the program in c:\program files\HijackThis.
Double click HijackThis.exe.
Hit None Of The Above, just start the program.
Hit Scan.
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Click that, save the log somewhere, and copy/paste into your own new topic
a) The HJT log
-----------------------------------------------------------------
next:
look in add/remove programs file for anything called need2find and uninstall if present

next:
launch hjt: and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these items:
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mbti.exe

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\mbti.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [D058874D] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dior4f46398906.exe
--------------------------------------------------------------
go to start>run and type in services.msc, the windows service panel will open.

heres what to do: under the name column look for: Print Spooler Service
there might also be one called Print Spooler, note the difference
click on each one and then right click and select properties
under the general tab look in the field that says Path to executable:
this is the one we are looking for:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dior4f46398906.exe

if it says that in the path to exe. change the Startup type to:disable
and click on stop for the service status.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
see if you can find and delete thsi file:
dior4f46398906.exe located in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 dir.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
check for updates to your antivirus and do a scan. than go out and get avg antispyware.install, update and scan with it:

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-spyware-free/lng/us/tpl/v5
-------------------------------------------------------------------
reboot once then please rescan and post a new hjt log.

hi bsieged,

thanks for the info, lets make this easier:

Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log
