Hello from Spain:

sorry about my english, because it isn't very good. But I'll to explain my problem as well as I can.

I have downloaded SpyBot S&D, because a lot of people tell me it was a great anti-spyware.

But, I have some doubts about it:

Question 1. Other softwares have "real-time scanning" (I don't know if I have traduced it correctly). Does SpyBot have this function? I want to use an example: All anti-virus detect viruses when they reach our computer, and it is not necessary to scan it because anti-virus detect them inmediatly.

Y don't find "real-time" function.

Question 2. It is about Inmunize option. What does this function do? What it has been developed for?

I usually used AdAware Pro, and I don't understand SpyBot very well. Could you help me, please?

Best regards

There is Teatimer, which helps to keep malware off your computer,it's somewhat similar to Ad-aware Professional's Ad-watch:

(It would be a good idea to keep performing a scan with Spybot regularly, though.)
Teatimer can be enabled by opening Spybot, clicking mode up top, then Advanced Mode, then clicking Tools, then Resident, then putting a checkmark beside Resident "Teatimer".

I usually used AdAware Pro,
I have a couple different antispyware scanners, but I usually try to only enable real-time protection from one antispyware program,to avoid getting a bunch of different warnings from more than one.If you still have adaware professional, and have Ad-watch enabled, you could leave teatimer disabled if you feel the same way(since you would have paid for ad-watch.)

And this should help explain immunization:

There are two a real time protections offered by Spybot-S&D. One is called TeaTimer and the other is a Browser Helper Object for use with Internet Explorer. There is a brief explanation of these two features and well as an explanation of the immunization feature in the following pinned thread:

Hello again:

thanks a lot for your replies (but it is difficult to me to understand english  )

Can I indicate SpyBot to start when I load Windows?

What Anti-Spyware do you prefer? AdAware? SpyBot? others?

md usa spybot fan, I have written a post about Browser Helper Object. Could you help me?

Best regards and thank you very much

Can I indicate SpyBot to start when I load Windows?
You could open Spybot, then click mode up top, then Advanced Mode, then click Settings, then click Settings below that, then scroll down to System Start, and then select Automatically run program at system startup, and then checkmark whatever else there you would like Spybot to do,like Run check on program start, maybe(just for an example.)

Personally,I prefer AVG AntiSpyware and Spybot, but that's not to say other antispyware scanners aren't good, like ad-aware or Superantispyware, for instance.

Thank you very much Zenobia!!!

By the way, I remember you that I use AdAware Professional. Do you continue thinking that AVG is better than AdAware Pro?

Thanks again!

You're welcome. :)
I wouldn't really say AVG antispyware is better than Ad-aware Pro,it's more like AVG antispyware is one of my favorite antispyware scanners, just a personal preference.I did have Ad-aware Pro for a while a couple years back before I had Spybot, and I've since gone back to having the free version of Adaware, which I use as sort of a backup scanner. Both AVG antispyware and Adaware have good reputations, etc.
