ActiveX app - Netster

After running Spybot, I browsed through different settings and in the ActiveX section I found a red-checked item: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050-DA18DE71} with little info about it other than it is confirmed malware from Netster.

Is this something I need to worry about, and if so, how do I get rid of it?

Hi Marti and welcome to the forum, generally considered adware, there is a lot of junk out there worse, but you don't want it on your computer. It appears one of your tools has damaged it, so it may be hard to remove. Let see what happens like this:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

if you know this one is safe you can leave it, it does not identify

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run cleanmgr

To be sure, let's clean your System Restore files:
Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot

Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
