hi

Ive had a few strange this happe lately tha i hope some one could help me with.

Firstly the other day Mcafee firewall upon startup appeared to have forgotten all the previous blocked programmes info. Thus upon start up it asked if i wanted to allow access etc then windows explorer access and acer service etc. Can anyone explain this? NB i hadnt previously changed any settings.

Secondly since 21 Dec most of the windows updates i am supposed to have automatically installed are not done due to errors. My error history since then rejects all updates and worrying on ccleaner issues sections seems to show many have been uninstalled!! Upon looking in add/remove programes previous patches downloaded are absent. The last 4 patches that are always rejected are all connected to insecurities related to remote ability to control machine -sounds a worry?

Anyway ill cut the waffle and post a log with hidden folders shown in the hope this may help...cheers

We need to chat a little at this point, I get the feeling you are just wasting our time and even though it is volunteered, it is very valuable to us.

Here: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=9567 if you will review the post, I asked you to remove the multiple antivirus programs which can cause untold problems as they conflict. I posted links and information to validate this including what MICROSOFT says about it. You complied at that point, but never bothered to respond to the topic prompting the administrator to close the topic.

2006-12-22, 01:44 This topic is closed due to lack of a response.
and here you posted again and were told the same thing about running multiple antivirus programs:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=9836
shelf life:
do i see two antivirus? avg and mcafee? antivirus apps dig deep into windows, having more than one thats resident can cause problems. i would remove one of them via add/remove programs panel.
you have avg antispyware, spybot, ad aware and that mcafee suite may include a "spyware" component. really two is good enough.
Once again the administrator closed the topic due to:
2006-12-27, 05:43: This topic also closed for lack of a response.

I feel like our time is being wasted, if you wish help here you need to follow the instructions. Post a HJT log that is running one antivirus program for starters and I will take a look for any other malware. If you are having McAfee issues, contact McAfee (they will also tell you not to run other AV's with their program)
If you are having Windows issues, contact Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/

Thanks
