I put Spybot onto a PC I am currently working on. I uninstalled and deleted everything I could find having to do with Pestpatrol. I have 2 issues going on currently that I would like resolved if possible.

1. When I load up Spybot I get a compatibility warning:

You have PestPatrol installed.
PestPatrol is known to cause some false positives in combination with Spybot-S&&D.
If PestPatrol should detect cd_clint.dll (as a trojan) or zipdll.dll (as an exploit) in your Spybot-S&&D folder, please ignore them, and update your PestPatrol.

2. When I right-click my trashcan or folders on my desktop I get the options to scan it with Pestpatrol or AVG. I can't seem to get this to go away...

I want to use Spybot and not Pestpatrol, any help?

Hello ghotiacre,

try out a registry cleaner tool to solve your problem.
For example RegCleaner:
http://cgi.zdnet.de/c/?s=32&t=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zdnet.de%2Fdownloads%2Fprg%2Fx%2Fs%2Fde0AXS_is-wc.html

Then try again to use Spybot-S&D.

Not sure how to use this program... I am in another forum for a different problem right now, but it relates to my registry. Should I wait for this fix until I get it resolved?

RegCleaner removes information that resides in the registry although the associated software is not installed on your hard drive any more.
You should be able to use RegCleaner before or after the solution the other problem. ;)
