Hi, welcome to safer networking forums!

*Since HijackThis creates backups of all it fixes and we want them safe and secured should they be required later, we need to move HijackThis to a permanent folder.

a.) While in your Desktop, right click in the background > Go to New > click Folder > Name the Folder HJT

b.) After creating the folder, find your HijackThis.exe (it looks like a detonator with some dynamites). Then, drag and drop that file to the new folder you created.

________________________

*It is possible that some of the entries are hiding from us, so please rename HijackThis.exe to something like angelfire777.exe

*Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your Desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

*Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

On your next reply, please include the sdfix log, vundofix log and a fresh HijackThis log

Thanks for the assistance AF777. Norton has returned the following information: "Adware.MaxSearch" & "Adware.Purityscan".

Spybot returned:

--- Search result list ---
Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888: Settings (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSMGR

However the item "Smitfraud.C-Toolbar888" was still present on the next scan. After running VundoFix.exe it found no items and did not create a log for me to paste. Were I to fathom a guess, I feel that there are still 1 or more virii present and not simply adware. However here is the SDFix log and subsequent HiJackThis log.

*A few optionals that I would recommend be uninstalled.

BitTorrent
Kazaa Lite Resurrection
These programs are very likely the reason your system is infested with malware. Even when a program like these are not infected theirselves, they will still bring malware into your system because more than half of all files available for download from peer-to-peer networks have been deliberately infected with some form of malware. I recommend that you remove these 2 programs above from your system.

*Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the items I listed in bold if found.

*Reboot

You're most welcome :)

Your Java is out of date....
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
Click Start > Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then download Java Runtime Environment 6 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp), and install it to your computer.

Besides that, Congratulations! Your log looks clean!

Configure Windows Xp to hide system files:

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Do not show hidden files and folders.
Check the Hide protected operating system files option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.

Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr

Select the More options tab

Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.
