Anti-vermins

I have this blinking icon in my task manager and when I click it, it takes me to this anti-vermins web page. I have ran spybot and its not showing up. How do I get rid of this please. Thank you.

I am pretty sure i have the latest service pack. IT says to not download it if you have malware. So even if i dont have it I need to wait right?

hmmm. I went to the panda site for the free online scan and it said that there is a problem with downloading active scan.
What should I do now?

I can not do this for you, read the instructions please and follow them. If your Windows Criticals are up to date, in the "Before you Post" link are several choices for free online scans. Get one of them to run and post the scan results and a HijackThis log according to the instructions. Look at the other threads to see examples of what you need to do.

I have ran the house call system test. I use firefox browser. It gets a large portion of the way through and then it restarts my computer.
Any idea how to fix this?

You have Internet Explorer? Many of these tools will not run on Firefox. This is a Smitfraud infection, please follow these directions:

Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Here is an executable if that will work for you better than a .zip

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

You can see the infection it found, let get rid of it before we clean the rest with HJT like this.

Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional: To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Make sure you restart the computer and post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log.

First, I see this: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus\ and I see this:

If you are running two antivirus programs at the same time, please read this:

If this is the case, you need to uninstall one of those, two is NOT better.

I also see this in the log: C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Take care of the problems I mentioned above and post a final HJT log for a last check.

It looks like you removed the wrong item, the Yahoo! Toolbar was NOT listed and it is gone, the one with this CLSID number: 707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25 which was listed for removal is still in the log? It has no file, and needs to be removed. If you want instructions for recovering the Yahoo item from backups, let me know.

Use HJT and remove this dead line.

The balance of the log looks fine, how is your computer running now? Let's clean the System Restore files.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
