I have been trying to get rid of this issue for some time. My internet connection is blocked and the progress bar in my browser flashes "badurl.grandstreetinteractive.com".

In my search I found a few different sites that reported that Spybot can resolve this problem. After doing a scan with v1.4 I still have the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cowboy

Hi

Bare with me, id like to see a ssd report before proceeding
Open SpyBot 1.4, check for and get any updates available, close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found. Then on the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced mode, on the left lower down select tools,and view report, ensure all the options are select near the bottom except
Uncheck[ ] do not report disabled or known legitimate Items,
uncheck[ ] Include a list of services in report.
Uncheck[ ] Include uninstall list in report.
Now select (near the top) view report, Press export, in the save in box choose a place such as your my documents folder, then in your next post near the bottom select the "browse" button , navigate to and attach or post that report please.

I only need to see the top two sections, detections and updates

Hi

We can get most of that with SSD's tools

Copy this post to a new text document for later referance.
better yet print it out.
If it's not already > Set windows to show hidden extensions, file's, folder's.<< Requirerd step
>click here for instructions<. (http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html)
Open SpyBot, change to advance mode if its not set there already,
click settings > settings > in the automation and system start area's uncheck any autostart settings,
place a check in only the [x] run program once at system startup.

Close SpyBot and restart your PC.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once SpyBot has opened Click tools > system startup, find this item
hilight it, choose delete near the top
HK_LM:Run, Dinst
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
do the same with >
HK_LM:Run, qqljtbv
c:\windows\system32\mqwtbe.exe r
It might be differant what your loking for is that r at the end
Go tools BHO's
find and choose remove for this item
{00F1D395-4744-40f0-A611-980F61AE2C59} (Band Class)
Now check for problems and fix anything found.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
click tool's > secure schredder, right-click in the center of that page and choose add files to list.
Add each of these files and only these one at a time,
be careful to note the exact spelling and file extensions, dont delete similur files.
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
c:\windows\system32\mqwtbe.exe
these files might be present >
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DrPMon.dll
c:\windows\svcproc.exe
c:\windows\nail.exe
c:\windows\redir.txt
c:\windows\dsr.exe
c:\windows\dinst.exe
c:\windows\dsr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\apiqv.exe
If so add them to the list
Now click Chop it Away !!
later tell us which were there
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Close SpyBot when finished.
Once back scan with and post a new hijackthis log please.
Hi
I followed all your instructions (very clear BTW) and my browser is no longer being held hostage by ''badurl..." - Thank you, thank you, thank you!
However, my internet connection is not working. Everywhere I try to go it just tells me "The page can not be displayed". I'm using a cable modem. The same cable works fine on my laptop. I know that I have to unplug the modem when switching computers and I have done that a few times just to confirm. I have checked all the internet option settings and nothing seems unusual.
Could I have deleted something that is needed for the connection?
Here are the files that I found and shredded:
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe - shredded
c:\windows\system32\mqwtbe.exe - shredded
these files might be present >
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DrPMon.dll - not present; I did find DrPMon.dll-tobedelted; I did not shred it
c:\windows\svcproc.exe - not present
c:\windows\nail.exe - not present
c:\windows\redir.txt - shredded
c:\windows\dsr.exe - shredded
c:\windows\dinst.exe - shredded
c:\windows\dsr.dll - shredded
C:\WINDOWS\system32\apiqv.exe - not present
