when i run spybot it stops scanning about 2000 of 5500 files and gives me the message "user aborted scan". i tried uninstalling S& D both ways, through the program's uninstall, add & remove software, and manually deleting the folder after which i ran the registry patch and then reinstalled the beta version of SpyBot. when i run it, i get the same error message early in the scanning process: "user aborted scan". i think the problem is I cannot completely uninstall S&D from my pc. when i try to delete the Search and Destroy folder, i get this message: "cannot delete SDhelper.dll Access is Denied". Can you help me?

thanks

Brian

SDhelper.dll is used Spybot's Internet Explorer's Browser Helper Object (BHO). Before attempting to uninstall with Add/Remove Programs you should have uninstalled the BHO or at least stopped Internet Explorer.

Stop all Internet Explorer sessions before attempting to delete the C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy folder.

With the problem you have ("Scan aborted by user", "User abort! Scan was not completed successfully.", etc.), make sure that you also use this very small fix (http://www.spybot.info/files/remove-spybotsd-settings.reg) from the following to clean up Spybot's registry entries:
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How to uninstall?

Please note: There appears some sort of change being made to Spybots reference pages from www.safer-networking.org urls to www.spybot.info urls. The link in the How to uninstall? WEB page to this very small fix (http://www.spybot.info/files/remove-spybotsd-settings.reg) seems to be broken, this one works (at the moment).
