My "computer is infected !" and recommends a "load update to prevent data loss" every five minutes. The program it attempts to load when the red shield is right- or left-clicked is called Registry Cleaner and points to www.sysregistry.com in its About section. The whole system seems a bit clunkier and to take a lot longer to start up.

about the hotlinks, and the lack of a anti-spyware check too. I couldn't get Housecall to work. I do know from a Spysweeper search that I have a Backdoor-us15info trojan.

Welcome to the forum, if you still need help, a little information for you first. The malware programs can't get together on what to call stuff, what SpySweeper says it is may mean nothing to say Symantec. What does your resident AV say it is anyway? I see this in the log:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctpmon.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctpmon.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctpmon] ctpmon.exe
Here is what Sunbelt-Software has to say: http://research.sunbelt-software.com/threatdisplay.aspx?name=FakeAlert&threatid=43521
Ths problem is, this outward sign is often the tip of an iceberg, and other junk is hidden. Let's start like this:

1) This may be Smitfraud infection, download Smitfraudfix from here:
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download and tutorial
Follow only these directions:
Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Post the C:\rapport.txt, as soon as I see those results I will continue the cleanup.

To expedite matters a little, you have this program onboard: C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ and it is obsolete. Grisoft purchased that program and recently released AVG Anti-Spyware (free trial) to replace it. Follow the instructions in this link: http://www.ewido.net/en/
and replace the obsolete product with the new one. DO NOT run the program, we need to run Smitfraudfix prior to to that if the Smitfrad infection is located.

Do you own SpySweeper or is it a trial? Is the trial still in effect?

Thanks

I'm uninstalling all of my spyware programs except for Ad Aware, Spybot and AVG.
Unfortunately, Smitfraudfix will not run. An error message is telling me it is not a valid Win32 application.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Smitfraudfix is used multitudes of times everyday all over the world to remove this junk.
Please download it again, this time save it to your Desktop, and then look at the picture in these instructions (click it to make it bigger) under this heading:
Extract all the archive content
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How_to_use_SmitFraudFix-t109268.html
If any of the files is missing in your folder, then turn off your antivirus program and download it again. It will not run unless all files are in the folder. It may well be that you do not have the infection, but we need to rule it out before we proceed.

Thanks

The creator of Smitfraudfix would like to get a look at that file you have on your computer: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctpmon.exe
Appears to be a trojan downloader

Before we remove it, would you follow these instructions to upload it, just click on this link and follow the directions.
Instructions for uploading files
It will be much appreciated.
