First of all, I was unable to run HiJackthis and/or Registry Mechanic at all. I double-clicked the program and I was booted back to desktop view without any error messages. The whole desktop also disappeared for a while before appearing back again.
The incident started with a virus link from MSN messenger. Via the use of Spybot and Spyware Doctor, I've managed to remove the trojan/virus, but remnants of it remains. I had pop ups appearing every now and then. I've also discovered a folder name IPwindow in my Programs File folder, and from Spybot, I know this is a virus program. However, I was unable to delete said folder because it was 'In use' or 'Write protected'.
Can anyone kind soul help me out? I know the problem is hard to identify without a HiJackthis log, but I'm unable to run it. Thanks for any help at all.

Update:
I've managed to remove the IPWindow folder entirely from my system via the use of Safe Mode, I was also able to run a HiJackthis scan during safe mode. Ran Spybot and Spyware Doctor, no viruses turned up, but my computer is still slow, and I'm still unable to run a HiJackthis scan in normal startup mode. I suspect a virus still lurks somewhere in my computer. Here's my HJT log from safe mode.

while you are in safe mode, run your antivirus, spybot and spyware doctor again.

Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:
Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
