ANTI-VERMIN problem

Hi,

Got anti vermin on my system and tried a few of the publicised techniques for removing it, including smitfraud and rouguefix.

Some of the pages had a list of dlls that would be installed and should be unregistered, but system had none of them. ALso the system would not boot to safe mode, it just hung there. But SpyHunter kept telling me that the system was infected (more on this later)

I did a reinstall of XP and that let me get to safe mode at least, so I tried the procedure listed here and used Trend Micro, that detected nothing...panda got hung up several times; first on c:\null, a file that then deleted manually, then finally an erroneous C:\ntldir, which it never got past.

Anyway, ran Trend's one, rebooted to safe mode and ran spybot and it kindly told me all about spyhunter and cleaned it out. Also ran au.exe to clean out the shortcuts.

System 'seems' clean now and I pasted have my hijack log below, hopefully to get it confirmed, or if not what to do next...

I will say most of the Smitfraud infection is hidden, often with no outward signs in the HJT log at all. This is one of the reasons you will see that we require an online antivirus scan. As far as I can see the only problem you have in the HJT log now is a out of date Java Program. See this information:

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ <<< out of date, I suggest you download the newest version and uninstall all old version s in Add Remove Programs.

I also suggest this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
