Big problems with computer, need help

Hello everybody, I just signed up to this forum today because of some problems I've been having. I have AVG and the newest edition of Spybot, which I have both used to try to get rid of a bunch of viruses/worms/trojan horses. I was stupid and downloaded a small program yesterday that made a bunch of stuff start happening to my PC. I've seen a lot of posts with HijackThis logs, so I did a scan and posted it:

I forgot to say some of the symptoms I'm having... My computer basically will not run in normal mode (keeps restarting), and when it does, by wallpaper is blue and I keep getting "virus found" prompts from AVG and TeaTimer alerts. Whenever I try to restart (in normal or safe mode) I first get a dialog box saying something like "error 0x000005 0x000006: memory could not be 'read'" (not exact words, just to get an idea). Then my screen turns blue (screen of death) and all it says is (exact words): "Stop: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down". I then have to push the power button on my tower then turn it back on.

1) Thanks to andymanchesta and anyone else who helped with the fix.

Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log


(hold the reports and logs until we finish)

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) TeaTimer will block the changes we must make, use these instructions and turn it off until you are finished:

5) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall 180solutions and AutoUpdate if there. Uninstall any program you know should not be there. If you are unsure let me know and I will look.

6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

7) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(some may be gone, removed before, just be careful and don't miss any)

8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the Report.txt from SDFix and a new HJT log (Normal Mode). Add any comment you think will help. I will review the information and post as soon as possible.

I followed your instructions, but when I tried to delete gkhf.dll, ldcore.dll, and instcat.dll I got an error saying they couldn't be deleted. This also happened when I tried "fixing" ldcore.dll in HijackThis. Here are the logs you wanted:

Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Navigate to the file: C:\windows\system32\ldcore.dll and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Don't reboot until you enter the other bad file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\instcat.dll once you have them both entered, then reboot to remove them.
Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.

Once you reboot, then do this in case the items are still in the HJT log:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: , c:\windows\system32\ldcore.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: instcat - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\instcat.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

OK, thanks for the feedback, the Delete on Reboot tool would have worked fine, I use it all of the time. Prevx is a good tool but uses a load of resources, unless you plan on purchasing it, I would uninstall it. I am wondering if the other computer issues coincided with the Prevx download. If not, then I need more information, descripe exactly what the computer is doing, when it is doing it and tell me about any error messages "word for word" This is probably not a malware issue, In fact, as far as I can see the HJT log is clean.

Let's run System File Checker in case a Windows File has gotten corrupted or deleted during this nasty infectation.

Click Start > Run, type in sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
Note: there is a space between sfc and /scannow
This should replace any corrupted/missing system files and will hopefully fix things. You may need your XP disc in your CD drive for this.

Whenever I shut down or restart, it goes to the normal windows screen that says logging off, windows is now shutting down, etc. Then the screen goes black, then turns blue and says that Windows had to shut down in order to prevent damage, and on the next line it says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL .
Then it goes on about what to do if it has happened the first time or multiple times and that I should make sure any new programs were installed properly (it doesn't say I should get a certain anti-virus or anything). Then it has a small technical report at the bottom that says:

*** STOP: 0x0000000A (0x000000B0, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8050E33D)

And then it says how it dumped physical memory. I then have to manually turn off then turn back on the computer. And when I log back in, it says "The system has recovered from a serious error."

I fixed the blue screen problem, all I did was uninstall Prevx1 and some other useless programs, then I updated my video driver and it was all fixed! Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciated it.:bigthumb: :D:

That sound great:bigthumb: I am glad it was as easy as that. I had Prevx on my computer to test it and it really slowed me down and a few things got erratic so I removed the program and all was normal. It does remove some tough junk though.

Please remove the tools we downloaded for the repair and then do this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
