If you uninstalled Spysweeper in your system, fix the following entry:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

Close your browsers and all open windows except for HijackThis, then click "Fix checked". Exit HijackThis.

*You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Everything seems fine so far. Thank-you, thank-you. You've saved a PC from being recycled and a guy from going mental!

P.s. Is there anything I can do to protect my PC in the future? I have ant-virus, anti-spyware, anti-everything running already!

I'll provide you with some recommendations after we get you cleaned up :)

Thought Google was fine but it still redirects me sometimes

Yes, that is because the tool that I've asked you to download didn't actually work because of a missing or corrupt file..

Please download this:

http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/xp_fix.exe

Save it to your desktop then double click it to install all of its components.

After you have installed that, reboot then run Fixwareout again per my previous instructions then post all the logs requested.

Don't want to speak too soon, but...

You didn't :)

Your Java is out of date....
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
Click Start > Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then download Java Runtime Environment 6 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp), and install it to your computer.

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.

Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr

Select the More options tab

Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

~Please note that IESpyAds only works with Internet Explorer.

Note: Make sure you update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.

Hi, welcome back.

Can you be more descriptive of your problem? Exactly when did this happen and what did you do that caused these happenings? Also, what is the exact error (if any) that comes out when you try to run the .exe's you downloaded? Do these happen only on .exe's or in other files too?

Hello again!!

Can't leave you in peace too long! I've "upgraded" to Vista since last time we spoke... great!

This problem started happening a few days ago out of the blue as most problems with PC's tend to happen.

All the problem is, when I download a program and save it to the desktop or even by running the program I get the following message:

Error message: C:Temporary Internet Files/Content.IE5/Y36V3498/program.exe

The directory name is invalid.

It only seems to happen if I try to run a downloaded program! I've tried wiping my internet history, files etc. and trying to install the program again but to no avail. Also tried searching hard drive for content.IE5 file but not found even if I enable hidden/system files.

Hope you can help AngelFire!
