Every time I open IE the first time , another browser opens for filost and directs me to free666. Can you help me get rid of this thing?? Thanks for the help

If you downloaded a zipped HJT file unzip it to the permanent folder so you have C:\hijackthis\hijackthis.exe.
* Example of the wrong way:

* Running hjt from the wrong folder may delay assistance as your helper will have to ask for a new log.
If in doubt use this link to get HijackThis.
Save it to your desktop and then double-click to run it.
It will install the program in c:\program files\HijackThis.
* Double click HijackThis.exe.
* Hit None Of The Above, just start the program.
* Hit Scan.
* When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
* Click that, save the log somewhere, and copy/paste back here.

scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked

good. avg is a 30 day trial version. after the 30 days if you dont buy it the realtime protection or "guard" is disabled, but you can still download updates and scan with it.

Many exploits are directed at Internet Explorer, you dont have to use it. Try a different browser. You can have and use more than one browser on your computer.

hi smitch,
the highjacker is gone. not sure how you got it really, they can come in different ways.
if your habits include cracks, warez, porn or p2p then you are much more likley to encounter malicious code out there.
just do what you normally do on the internet, keep avg updated or set it to update automatically and do complete scan once in awhile. if it starts finding alot of stuff then you might make some changes, the cookies it flags are pretty much harmless.
you might also want a second malware app, like spybot search and destroy to use also, having 2 is plenty though.
atfcleaner is handy also, run it once aday or so to keep temps, cookies cleaned out.
