Hello people, I hope you will be able to help me out of this situation.

I currently have a laptop running windows XP SP2 and am having a winlogon.exe error coming up when I boot up windows. Also when I try to shut down, a blue screen flashes up really quickly and the computer re-boots instead of shutting down.

The error reads as follows:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Follow the instructions in this link, make sure you Delete or at least Quarantine anything the program locates and save the scan report to post.

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the scan report from AVG Anti-Spyware and a new HJT log. I need any error messages you are receiving "word for word", and please add any comments you think will help.

Thanks for your welcome and reply pskelley. I removes the symantec exe file and the porn script running on my system. Also I ran the systems internal check from spybot and it came up with an error saying explorer.exe was trying to start up twice?? I clicked fix selected problems and hey presto, problem solved! There are no errors currently coming up and I ahve run adaware, avg virus and spybot and all come up clean. (I am not running avg spyware on my system) Regards, Darren

Your HJT looks good to me, safe surfing:bigthumb: System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Did you look at the information I posted before about the error messages? I do not think this has anything to do with malware, see if you can find anything to help here:

lol having trouble running the pitstop online scan! Saying my activex isn't running but the seperate test for the activex shows everything as ok!
