Does anyone know of anything that will disable Spybot S&D?
The short version of a longer story is that when I run the software lately it always says that it has found nothing.
No cookies or anything else?
Please understand from the beginning that I am not slamming SS&D I have used it for several years and been quite happy with the software.
I am just trying to solve my problem.

Now the longer version of how I noticed the problem is as follows.

I am running XP with all the patches.
I have been using Norton AV for a few years and it is current.
I am using Spybot 1.4 and have the 2-14-07 update.
I check for updates every time I get on the system.
Usually every couple of days or so there are updates.
I run a scan each time just before I shut the system down.
I actually do 2 scans.
I also use a program called Ad-AwareSE.
I keep it updated also.
I generally find that if there are no updates for one program there is for the other.
My thought is that if I have two companies trying to stay ahead of the snakes I will be better off.
There have been occasions where one has caught things that the other missed.
(It has switched back and forth with this.)
Most of the things that they find are just cookies, but occasionally something nasty is caught.
I have been using both of the programs in combination for several years now with no problems.
I’ll alternate been which one I run first. (It usually is that one that got the latest updates.)
About 10 days ago or so I noticed that SS&D never seemed to get any updates.
This went on for 4-5 days.
This meant that I was running SS&D after the AD-Aware Se program.
SS&D was always showing that it found nothing. This could have been a natural occurrence, but it was not.
After 4 or 5 days SS&D started taking updates again.
Now when it scans it still never finds anything.
Not cookies not anything.
There should be cookies, at least.
There are always cookies when I travel, always.
AD-Aware SE, running right after SS&D, seems to finds them.

I have gone through all the SS&D setting and can see nothing that is clearly wrong.
(I have not been fiddling with the settings anyway.)
I have run several standalone root kit finder programs with no luck.
I kinda believe that something has whacked SS&D.
Anybody got any ideas, thoughts, comments, solutions, etc.
(Again I want to state that this is not a shot against SS&D. I just want to fix it)
All help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello,

Please run Spybot - Search & Destroy and switch to "Advanced mode" via the menu bar item "Mode" and select "Settings" --> "File Sets" in the left bar. There, please right-click somewhere into the list and choose "select all available checks".

Best regards
Sandra
