Hi Forum people,
Tried to find a tool to kill the Accoona Toolbar in IE6 - Windows XP-HE
Used Ad-Aware, called this safe
Downloaded and used Spybot, called this safe :(

Please tell me how to get rid of this extra toolbar

Hello Frans.

The Accoona Toolbar is bundled and installed with programs such as screen savers and desktop themes. Or it can be downloaded separately.

We may need to see A Spybot-S&D log to take a look at the system and proceed from there.

Earlier versions of the Accoona Toolbar were purportedly difficult to remove.
Have you tried the toolbar's own uninstaller yet?

Please go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove and see if Accoona Toolbar is listed there.

If so remove it.
Make sure you do not remove any other programs by mistake.

If that does not help:
Spybot-S&D
Open SpyBot, check for and get any updates available, close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found. Then on the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced mode, on the left lower down select tools, and view report, ensure all the options are selected near the bottom except (Spybot version 1.4)
Uncheck[ ] do not report disabled or known legitimate Items.
uncheck[ ] Include a list of services in report.
Uncheck[ ] Include uninstall list in report.
Now select (near the top) view report.
Press export in the save in box choose a place such as your my documents folder, then in your next post near the bottom select the "browse" button; navigate to and attach that report.

If you have any problems attaching the Spybot log please go ahead and copy paste the log.

If you are running an older version of Spybot-S&D.

Spybot-S&D 1.4 Final has been released.

Hi Tashi,

Please go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove and see if Accoona Toolbar is listed there

It wasn't. But I did go to www.accoona.com and read there I had to update (scary!) the program and should be able to switch the toolbar off; it worked, but it's not an un-install.

So current state: no toolbar visable, program still on the pc.
Accoording your cleaver instructions the scan-report as attachement

Frans

Good job Frans.

I am going to ask Lonny to take a look at the log and proceed from there as we may need to use another tool to remove some items.

Hang in there. ;)

Hi

Can you delete its folder now ? C:\Program Files\Accoona\

uninstall NewDotNet/New.Net
While off line in addremove programs look for and uninstall New.Net, Newdotnet(Domains) WebHancer
IF it will not work or If you can't find it there go here and follow procedure number 4:
http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html
Restart the PC
Delete the newdotnet folder on program files
Restart your PC when prompted

Make and Post a new SSD report after fixing please

[QUOTE=LonnyRJones]Hi

Couldnot delete, but had to rename it (~Accoona) After uninstall New.Net from Config / Software and a restart, I deleted ~Accoona folder.
Attached the new SSD report.
Thank you Lonny
