Hi, OK my problem was/is: getting a trojanhorse? icon in my toolbar. It stated " sys. alert - detected a nuber of spyware app. click here to remove and empty your bank account, you get the point". After running Smitfraud & HJT it is gone and my Laptop is running faster. Here are my Logs:

How's the computer running? As far as I can see Smitfraudfix cleaned that infection. Here is what I see in the HJT log.

Download the newest version and uninstall all old version in Add Remove Programs.

I suggest you do this:
How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\ <<< delete that folder if there

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

If all is well at this point, then do this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Thank you for your help. Here is were I am now. My computer seems to be running fine. I followed your instructions and read the links that you supplied. I will be implementing the procedures reccommended in the links as time permits.

I had a problem trying to re-install AVG Anti-Spyware. It stated "Installer has detected an outdated version of Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator which contains a bug. Recommend you update at Roxio Web Page". I have never heard of Roxio and I use Sonic Record Now. I tried to locate Roxio in add/remove programs, but could not find it. I also could not find it with a search? I have not installed AVG yet, until I can fix this problem.

I currently run; Symantec Firewall, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE plus, and Ad-Watch SE plus.

Thanks for the feedback, let me take a look at your uninstall list like this:
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Unless you are planning on purchasing AVG Anti-Spyware, I would just leave it off your computer, once the trial is over there are no realtime benefits.

I know little about Ad-watch plus except that we usually have to turn it off and at times uninstall it when we are trying to remove stuff. Since neither Spybot or Ad-aware supply realtime spyware protection, I suggest you read the information by the experts and choose a good freeware spyware program. One you can consider is Windows Defender:

Since you are running the Symantec Firewall be sure the Windows Firewall is disabled in the Security Center.

I must apologoze for being computer illiterate, but where is the "Open the Misc Tools" button?

In the mean time I will delete the AVG, I will download Window's Defender, and follow the rest of your advice. Then I will post the results of the pandasoftware scan...and HJT log(if needed).

No problem, here is a screenshot of the tool using the Uninstall Manager. I just want to make sure nothing is there that was causing you installation issues. If you want to look yourself in Add Remove Programs and if you are sure nothing is there you do not know about, and the computer is running ok now, then you don't have to send any more information unless you have questions about anything.

OK, I thought everything was good until I ran the Pandasoft scan again. It shows 33 detected Spyware, and 2 rootkits. Not sure if I should purchase the Pandasoft to get rid of them or start all over again??

Those are cookies, you do know how to delete cookies don't you?

* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE: Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
Click the "Delete Cookies" button
Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed): Go to Tools > Options.
Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

After you do the above, run Panda again. It's up to you to delete cookies or block them or whatever. They are part of surfing the net. Nothing I can do about that.

Viewpoint Media Player: read about this junk
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.
