Hello, everyone. I just downloaded Syybot -S & D 1.4 for the first time. When I went to use it, I couldn't because it said I had to first install the integrated update or the manual updater. I do not know how to do this. I looked for these in the Update sections but couldn't find them. Could someone please tell me how to install one of these updates?

Go into Spybot > Update > click Search for updates > check the items displayed > click Download updates.

For problems:

Thanks for your reply. I did a download of updates but it didn't solve the problem. I then checked my settings and I do not seem to be using a proxy server as that option is not checked and there are no settings for one. All the fields are greyed out. What do I try now?

If you were able to do an update then you evidently do not need to change your firewall or proxy settings.

If you did an update, I don't understand what your current problem is.

Exit Spybot and start it again. Updates don't work until Spybot has been restarted since it reads them at startup.

I did another update download because I wasn't sure whether I had ticked all the options that are provided, i.e., detection update, immunisation update. I then restarted Sypbot and tried again. This time, it worked. Spybot is now scanning. The only problem now, though, is that it has been scanning for nearly half an hour and it isn't even halfway through. I have to go out soon and I can't wait around for it to finish. Should it be taking this long?
