having problems,virus,spware,trojans, please help!

hi. having severe problems for past 2 days. donloaded a codec and seemed to have got spyware,viruses etc with it. uninstalled codec and installed AVG anti spyware but hasnt solved anything. Getting lots of pop ups and icons in system tray with security alerts. clicking on these takes me to web sites like spydawn,malwarewiped and antivermin all telling me i have viruses and trojans. Also something about win.32 virus and downloader.zlob.bcz. cant even get to my homepage as this seems to have changed! Hope this makes sense to someone and they can help. sorry i'm not very pc literate so please simplify instructions if anyone can help...thanks

Thanks for returning the information, sorry about the wait, turned into a very busy day. Looks like Smitfraudfix did the job for you.
All I see is a slightly out of date Java program, see this information:

one dead line and AVG Anti-Spyware running. If you wish you can run a scan with AVG using these instructions:

and post the results for me to check. If you have already looked at the scan results and know it is clean, then finish up like this.

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

When i switch on pc keep getting error message that reads as follows:

rundll32.exe-unable to locate component. this application has failed to start because WMI.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix the problem.

I dont know what this is though to reinstalll it! Then when i hit ok i get the following message:

error loading bthprops.cpl. The specified module could not be found.

Can you help with this?
