I have been plagued with constant popups, winsoftwareantiviruspro2006 or game sites. I have used a number of different spyware removers but none seems work.

My Spybot has been running all day and each time it come up with a new set of problems,

Cassava, ReliableStats, Smitfraud. Other programs have detected and supposedly removed, Worm.Krepper.c, Logger.VBStat.h, Trojan.BHO.g and Downloader.Swizzer.ag.

The notepad files are as follows:

VirtumundoBeGone

My F-Secure has now just popped up with a trojan,
Trojan.Win32.BHO.g
File: ETCCPBFH.dll
Path:C:\Windows\System 32

AVG Anti-spyware has now detected a cpv.feed tracking cookie

Hi Elizabeth52 and welcome to the Forums :)

You're infected. Rename HijackThis.exe to Scanner.exe

Please remove any old versions of VundoFix.

At first you need to disable a few realtime protections. These may interfere with our cleaning process.
We'll enable these when you're clean...

Disable Windows Defender's realtime protection.
Open Windows Defender
Click on "Tools"
Click on "General Settings"
Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
Uncheck "Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)"
Click "Save"
Exit the program.
Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log (scanner.exe)

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Thanks so much for the very quick response.

I followed your directions and here are the notepad logs for the Vundofix and HijackThis. I noticed the VundoFix version you directed me to was an update.

[B]Question I have been running an F-Secure Anti-Virus/Spyware program offered through my ISP, as well as SpyBot Search & Destroy, Spyblaster and Windows Defender. But was still able to get this mess. Would you recommend I add any other programs? Would you suggest that I get a Registry repair program? Which one would you suggest?

Again, thanks for your speedy response and sharing your expertise.

You are an  angel.

Oh my, I figured since the popups had stopped it was fixed. OK, so here we go.

Followed your instructions, got to where you said in Safe Mode to delete the etccpbfh.dll file from Windows/system32. There was a 'etccpbfh.0ll' file but not a .dll file. So I left it alone....hope that was right.

Here are my new reports,

Hi again :)

It is always best to ask first. The etccpbfh.0ll has been renamed and you can delete it.

The HijackThis log is looking clean, how is the computer running?

It's running great. No more annoying pop-ups. That was just plain creepy! I'd enter something in google and it would pop something up for me. Ugh.

Question I have been running an F-Secure Anti-Virus/Spyware program offered through my ISP, as well as SpyBot Search & Destroy, Spyblaster and Windows Defender. But was still able to get this mess. Would you recommend I add any other programs? Would you suggest that I get a Registry repair program? Which one would you suggest?

Any tips or suggestions for keeping things clean?

thanks so much again, you've been fabulous.

Hi again :)

Sounds that you have a nice arsenal of security programs. If you want to use a registry cleaner, I'll recommend CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) (remember to uncheck the installation of Yahoo toolbar in the installation process if you don't want it). Just remember to allow CCleaner to take backups if you clean something.

You got the Vundo infection propably because the outdated Java.

You should update your Java to the latest version (6.0) Start
Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs
Delete the old Java, J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp).
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Install it

Now you can make your hidden files hidden again.
Go to My Computer
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
Click the View tab.
Checkmark the "Display the contents of system folders"
Under the Hidden files and folders select "Show hidden files and folders"
Check "Hide protected operating system files"
Click Apply and then the OK and close My Computer.

So how did I get infected in the first place?
