I think that about sums it up. My cpu browser is firefox and it seems to be crashing alot lately. I installed the new AvG free and Spybot but they did not find any virus or trojans. My Spybot resident protector would show blank lists for both allowed and denied processes, but now it wont even come up! I ran a pandascan online, and spybot, and avg, again no virus. It seems like this is also preventing me from updating my avg. Here is my hijack log, any help would be appreciated:

Welcome to the forum, I am not sure if this is a malware problem or not, before we can find out:
1) Make sure you have reviewed this information:
"BEFORE you POST" -Preliminary Steps
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
2) You are running MSConfig in Selective Startup mode, I have no idea what I am not seeing. Return MSConfig to Normal Startup before you post the next HJT log.
3) Your Java program is very outdated and may be the reason for your problem? See this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\ <<< out of date, install the newest version and uninstall all old version in add remove programs.
4) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm
While you are moving that I would like you to rename HijackThis.exe. Call it whatever you like. If a hidden Vundo is onboard as a results of the out of date Java program, we will see it after a reboot.
5) Please post an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
6) You have SUPERAntiSpyware on board, run a scan and post the results, along with a new HJT log, the uninstall list and any comments you think will help. Use Post Reply, stay in this same topic.
Thanks

I Updated the Java, moved the HJT folder, and followed the other steps, except I cannot return MSConfig to Normal startup. Everytime I try to choose normal startup, it keeps wanting to safeboot and if I uncheck this option, it automatically goes back to selective startup again. After following the steps my allowed and blocked process lists are still blank, and my avg will not update. I put the the HJT logs below, I will put the other lists in the next post k. Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. I see at least one trojan I can't identify, I'll let you take a look before we remove it. First I have a couple of questions.
You are running at least two antivirus programs, see this information:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2000031316555206
"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/03/AR200512030008
C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCAgentExe] c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\McAgent.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCUpdateExe] C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcupdate.exe
You need to decide what antivirus program you are going to run and uninstall all others.
I see Zone Alarm running, please be sure the Windows Firewall in your Security Center is disabled.
While the jury is still out on how many anti-spyware programs should be running at once, I am going to suggest SuperAntiSpyware and Windows Defender at the same time is going to create conflicts as they both try to do the same thing. My advice to you wouldd be to ask Windows Defendter support about this. If the SuperAntiSpyware is only a trial, I suggest you uninstall it at once. The results of the scan gave us nothing.
I see BellSouth and Earthlink, are you still using this program?
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [E6TaskPanel] "C:\Program Files\EarthLink TotalAccess\TaskPanl.exe" -winstart
Uninstall List: I am looking for security issues and malware programs. I suggest you take advantage of the list to remove any programs you no longer us, your call.
Mozilla Firefox (1.5.0.9) I would uninstall the out of date version
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition <<< uninstall
I can't really see any other problems there, if you see anything you do not know, you should find out what it is.
You know you have this surveilance software installed: :\Program Files\Spytech Software\Spytech SpyAgent\sysdiag.exe I will assume? Here is what CastleCops have to say:
http://www.castlecops.com/startuplist-5251.html
http://www.google.com/search?q=SpyAgent.B&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLG

Follow the above instructions and then let's do this:
1) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.
2) TeaTimer will block the changes we must make, follow these instructions and turn it off:
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm
3) Here is the trojan if you would like to scan it before you remove it:
c:\windows\system32\zklocfj.exe and free online scanners:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
Post that information for me to see.
4) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.
5) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
http://wiki.castlecops.com/Dell_My_Way_Search_Assistant <<< see this information
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zklocfj] c:\windows\system32\zklocfj.exe
unidentified trojan
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
(above is optional, leave it if you set it)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
7) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
c:\windows\system32\zklocfj.exe <<< delete that file
8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart the computer. I would like you to do this.
Update your AVG Anti-Virus program and run a complete system scan, post the results for me.
Update Windows Defender and do the same thing.
Post any information I rsquested about, the results of those two scans and a new HJT log. Please include your comments and questions.
Thanks

I appreciate your help and patience. I have been having some major technical difficulties! I only want 1 av program, but when I go into add/remove programs, I am unable to find McAffee and Zone ALarm, and Earthlink total access. I had uninstalled all of these programs previously, I thought. I removed the old version of Firefox, but I cannot uninstall Spyagent by Spytech software, again it is not in my add/remove program list. I appreciate you identifying the possible trojan, but went I tried to visit one of the sites to scan that file, I could not find it under C:Windows/System32. Also when I tried to do a search for the file, I could not find it. I did follow Step 4 to view all files, and also Step 7 to find the trojan. I tried to right click on start to explore and find the file, but again no luck. I did follow step 6 and made the changes via Hijack this that you recommended, and then rebooted (into a forced safe mode again). After all that, I still cannot update AVG, so I did not run another scan yet, but I will do that shortly and post it. I ran a scan of Windows Defender, but it did not report malware, but Defender is acting funny too. When I go into History, there are a serious of actions which have been permitted, all to "uknown programs", which I never permitted! I was able to do an online trojan scan via windosecurity.com, but it did not find the trojan, just a dartdialer.exe that I think has something to do with my bellsouth provider? I will run another AVG scan and post it along with my most recent hjt log momentarily. Is there any other way to uninstall a program?? Thanks again for the help...
Member posted the same information twice, I am moving the next post to Mod trash

Thanks for the information, I will do what I can do but first you must do this:
Second request for this:
2) You are running MSConfig in Selective Startup mode, I have no idea what I am not seeing. Return MSConfig to Normal Startup before you post the next HJT log.
Click on Start > Run > type "msconfig" without the quotes and then OK. When System Configuration Utility opens, click the General Tab. Please place the bullet in Normal Startup (you now have it in Selective Startup) then click Apply and OK. I must see everything that is running on the computer, you can return to Selective Startup to save your resources when we finish.
First and most important, I do not see AVG Anti-Virus protection in running programs? Have you turned it off or tried to uninstall it. I believe a priority is to get your antivirus protection working. Here is the link, you may want to download it again. Once you download it then make sure you update it an run a scan. Unless you intend to purchase the product, please make sure you stay with > > > Get AVG Anti-Virus Free, do not choose trials or purchase.
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
C:\Hijack\DontMakeMe.exe <<< you may rename this to HijackThis.exe if you wish.
Do you use this toolbar? >>> O3 - Toolbar: Get Anonymous - {8892C699-6978-4DD9-8EB2-951C93DB4F62} - C:\Program Files\GetAnonymous 2.1 Professional\IEToolBar.dll
The rest of the HJT log looks fair at thie point. If you would make sure you have one antivirus, one firewall (even if it is the Windows firewall that is better than nothing) and that you have place MSconfig in Normal mode, then post a new HJT log. Please try to explain any malware issues you think you have at that point.
Thanks

Thank you again so much for your help! I am posting a hjt log from when I was running startup in normal mode. The bug I seem to have is that whevener I try to run startup in normal, it automatically goes into safe mode. I have to run startup modified to get out of safe mode. I have no idea why my avg was not running. It seemed to me to be working, it ran a scheduled scan this morning, other than not allowing me to update, for some reason. The control center said the virus defiinition was out of date. I am not sure if my Spbyot Resident is working again yet, the allowed and denied process lists were blank. I will turn my resident back on after I reinstall avg. This hjt log was run under normal startup, but again, it keeps booting me into safe mode when I try to startup normally. Thanks again for the help.

I ended up trying to re-install avg, but it still would not update after installing successfully. I ran SPybot and started the resident protection IE / tea timer. My allowed and blocked process lists still came up blank, but when I reactivated resident/tea timer, a popup asked me if I wanted to make registry changes, the first one being zklocfj.exe, the possible trojan you spotted that I cannot find in my SYSTEM32 folder to delete. Should I have allowed or denied this registry change? After that change, a hole slew of them came up, among them being zone alarm and spyagent and mcafee, all of which I thought I uninstalled previously. I am not sure what else I can do. If I dont 'have a trojan or malware, it seems like I at least have some installation/removal issues. THanks again for your advice!

This hjt log was run under normal startup, but again, it keeps booting me into safe mode when I try to startup normally. To be sure, you are saying that no matter what you do with this computer it returns to safe mode. I will look at this HJT log (which you said was run in normal mode) then I will post ways to try to stop this. It is very unlikely this is malware, rather a hardware/software problem. We will see what we can find out.
C:\Program Files\Eyeball\Eyeball Chat\EyeballChat.exe <<< are you sure this program is safe?
I would like to be sure we have cleaned all temp and temporary internet junk from the computer. I know we used ATF-Cleaner, but let's do it once manually like this:
Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE: Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
Click the "Delete Cookies" button
Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed): Go to Tools > Options.
Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 12:31:37 PM, on 3/6/2007
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
O3 - Toolbar: Get Anonymous - {8892C699-6978-4DD9-8EB2-951C93DB4F62} - C:\Program Files\GetAnonymous 2.1 Professional\IEToolBar.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: !SASWinLogon - C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SASWINLO.dll
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\ <<< delete that folder
C:\Program Files\Eraser\ <<< Delete that folder
C:\Program Files\EarthLink TotalAccess\ <<< delete that folder
Restart the computer so changes can go into effect.
I see AVG Anti-Virus in the log and also in services in the log, but NOT in running programs. I believe you should uninstall it completely and download it again from the link I provided. If you can't uninstall it, then ask and I will show you how to do it using HJT. Since you may not have an active anti-virus program running, you would be wise to keep the computer offline as much as possible.
I ended up trying to re-install avg, but it still would not update after installing successfully. Can you see it running in the Running processes:? should be at least two instances. If you can, then update it manually from here:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/24/lng/us/tpl/v5 Assuming this is a free program, if you can't get it working right, you may want to remove it and use another free program. I can provide links if needed.
but when I reactivated resident/tea timer, a popup asked me if I wanted to make registry changesDeny all changes for now, this item: zklocfj.exe you need to find out if it's still on the computer. Make sure all files and folders are enabled:
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html then use search to locate it, navigate to it and delete it. When in safe mode it will not be running (if it is still there)
I apologise, it seems we are just managing to stay ahead of issues, this was a pretty messed up computer. If malware is our problem, we will fix it.
Where are you located? Start looking a some of this information to see if you can find a solution for the safe mode problem, you must be able to run in normal mode. http://www.google.com/search?q=can%27t+get+out+of+safe+mode&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLG
Remember this, always remove programs from Add Remove programs, never delete them or try to remove them any other way. Partial removals cause all kind of problems as you are seeing.
Thanks
