Hi from Downunder, I have Spybot, Bit Defender, Xsoftspy and AVG Internet Security installed, and have yesterday did a thorough check (after AVG threw up various threats) using the other programs, and got an experienced friend to indicate the files to remove. That was OK for a day, but today AVG has thrown up the above two files on its "Threat Detected" window. The first file did not appear the yesterday on the checks but the second one did.
Neither file can be Healed or Vaulted, AVG indicates and the window stays there.

i dont see any indication of those in the hjt log, but that dosnt mean there not there.
do i see two AV, bitdefender and AVG? two is not better than one in this case.

VundoFix by Atri
Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.


Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

So it looks like that "avgfwafu.dll" file is still there. I don't know about the "cessc.dll file either.

Did the fact that Vundofix showed no files after scan mean that it could not remove the said files?
I don't recall it saying other than it found no fiiles.:sick:

no, it just means it didnt find any files to remove, which is good.



So it looks like that "avgfwafu.dll" file is still there.

that file is ok. its part of AVG's firewall.

do you have bit defender installed?

Yeah I have bit Defender as well as AVG Internet Security but only run the Bit Defender about once a week.

What do you make of the "cylcessc.dll" file?
Last ni ght I updated AVG, Bit Defender, Smitfraud and SpyBot before putting them all through their paces. Nothing showed up.

its not a good idea to have/use two AV on your computer. two isnt better than one in this case. if both arent active/resident then its ok. i dont see cylcessc.exe anywhere, whats flagging it? can you find it anywhere on your computer?

Shelf Life asked me as his last question whether this file was on my computer.
I did a search and it was where the AVG Threat said it would be, in system32.
So what should I do with it? Is it a necessary file?

hi Floutist,

heres what we can do. to get the file checked out visit this website, use the browse button to find the file in the system32 dir on your computer. then click the send button.
may take several minutes to get it scanned. it will run the file thru a bunch of different AV scanners.

if it comes back flagged, delete it. you can copy/paste the results in notepad and post it back here if you want.

save it to your desktop, it will create a icon called sfp.exe
click it, copy/paste this in the window:

C:\Windows\system32\cylcessc.exe
click continue it will create a .cab file on your desktop.
you can e-mail me the .cab file as a attachment in a email client
