Welcome to the forum, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, you are infected. You may also have missed this important information:
"BEFORE you POST" Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

You have several nasty infections including PurityScan/OIN, Smitfraud and this item:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mmsvc32.exe [Microsoft Network Services Controller]
http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.kassbot.b.html
A look at the information tell me this worm has been patched for, are your Windows Criticals up to date?

Make sure you have read and followed the directions, since the Smitfraudfix report indicates an infections, please start like this:
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< tutorial if needed
Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Restart the computer and post the C:\Report.txt from Smitfraudfix and a new HJT log. Please add any comments you think will help, use Post Reply, stay in this topic.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for helping me out!
As adviced I booted in Safe Mode and ran SmitfraudFix. I have attached the rapport which was generated. I have also attached the HJT report after rebooting in the normal mode. drvgub.dll seems to have got fixed.

Please suggest what should I do next (the i-dialer seems to be still be there as I can see it on the taskbar). Also the mmsvc32.exe also persists.

Rgds,
Jaga

Thanks for returning the information, please follow the directions carefully and in the numbered order, that is your best chance for success.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall PuritySCAN By OIN, OIN or OuterInfo. Uninstall any other program you know does not belong there. If you see none of those, then use this uninstaller:
http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe here is a tutorial if it helps: http://www.outerinfo.com/howto.html

4) How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb
Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Navigate to the file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winopn32.dll and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Hello Kelly,

Appreciate your support!

I followed your instructions and am posting the HJT log below. Please advice on the next steps ...

Step 1: Done.
Step 2: Done.
Step 3: The downloaded OiUninstaller.exe did not run saying it is not a valid Win32 exe. Repeated download but the same result.
Step 4:Done.
Step 5: Done. Only I did not find the following line in HJT to delete
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Notn] "C:\WINDOWS\SSEMBL~1\chkntfs.exe" -vt yazb

Step 6: Could not find SSEMBL~ folder to delete
Could not delete winopn32.dll and vmkyz32.dll
Here I went back to HJT and marked them delete on reboot. I hope I did the right thing!
Step 7: Done.

You did fine:bigthumb: and this HJT log looks clean of malware. Use HJT to remove this dead line:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winopn32 - winopn32.dll (file missing)
How is the computer running now?

Thanks

Kelly,

Thanks a lot for helping me out.
My PC seems fine now.
Can you suggest any measures that I can take to prevent such attacks in the future?

Rgds,
Jaga

Hello Jaga, I am happy your computer is better, I will ask you to clean the System Restore files and post information from experts. While there are no silver bullets, the information will go a long way towards helping you to stay safe. After you review the information, if you still have questions, post them.

Thanks...Phil

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
